Megaload specializes in heavy transport and lifting services for the heavy industry, shipbuilding, and mining sectors on a global scale. The company is responsible for removing, repositioning, and shipping heavy industrial machinery, including complete blast furnace sections, harbor cranes, and satellites. Megaload is frequently tasked with providing specialized equipment and personnel for the installation and relocation of heavy presses for the automotive industry.

RELOCATION OF HARBOUR CRANES

Megaload offers door-to-door relocation services, port crane installation, heavy section assembly, ballasting, lashing, securing, and sea fastening procedures. These services are carried out in-house by the Megaload Engineering department. Additionally, Megaload provides barges, tugboats for river and sea transport activities, and a chartering service for dedicated ships. Port agency duties, including insurance and related documentation, are available upon request.

SHIPBUILDING

SHIPBUILDING
Megaload specializes in heavy transportation for the shipbuilding industry involving the transportation of boat sections and entire ferry boats, as well as performing the launching of ships. Shipbuilding regularly uses pre-assembled sections, so entire huge multi-deck segments of the whole structure are often built elsewhere in the yard and transported to the building dock or slipway and are connected into place or in floating docks, ready for launch. This so called “block construction” often divides the ship into two sections (bow and stern) these are then connected with extraordinary precision (jumboization process).

AEROSPACE INDUSTRY

Heavy road transport and project departments are called for the transport and shipment of satellite modules while the heavy haulage and lifting department is taking care of associated components assembly of rockets (Space X) thanks to high-capacity crawler cranes and SPMTs.

WRECKS REMOVAL

Megaload has a dedicated department for the removal of wrecks after accidents at sea. The company has a strong track record in marine activities, including recovering and towing vessels and recoating them. They also handle the repair/replacement of ship sections, such as changing out thrusters. Megaload was involved in the Concordia Wreck Removal project, which involved the challenging task of rotating, refloating, and towing a 300-meter-long, 114,000-ton cruise vessel – a feat that had never been performed before.

MINING

Megaload is often called upon to carry out transportation and installation operations for the mining industry. The company’s wide range of equipment provides a suitable solution for transporting components from remote areas. These operations typically involve using SPMTs, gantry systems, cranes, and strand jacking systems and require thorough pre-planning and a high level of expertise in logistics.
